Biodynamic CranioSacral with Philip Kampfer
What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy(CST) is an off branching of Osteopathy. Biodynamic CST is a further division of the field of CST into biomechanical and biodynamic approaches to healing. CST is a therapy that aims to assist the healthy flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the sacrum, spinal cord, and cranium, by facilitating release in the bones and membranes of the central nervous system, thereby bringing more health to the body as a whole. In biomechanical CST the body is approached with an allopathic intent to attune to the cerebrospinal fluid, diagnose the lack of mobility or irregular mobility in the craniosacral system, and treat accordingly. Biodynamic CST evolved because it was found CST with a different emphasis can open up deeper connection with the body as a whole, and its organizing and healing forces. In biodynamic CST, among other things, we tune into what is known as fluid tide and long tide. These tides are generated by the craniosacral system, and express as guiding forces in the body. In biodynamic CST we approach the client with the intent to listen to these forces, foregoing the intent to diagnose and treat the body from a limited perspective of what we know. With the safety and attention this gives, those forces can guide the practitioner towards the root issues presenting themselves behind our symptoms, and address or resolve them.
What does a Session with Philip look like?
The session will start with a brief intake together. You and Philip will get clear on why you’ve booked the session, what transitions you're currently experiencing in your life that feel relevant, and what you’re wishing to receive from the session. When it’s time to start, as the client you’ll be lying face up, fully clothed, on a sheet or sarong on a massage table. The session itself usually lasts an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half, although can go longer or shorter depending on what is required. A session with Philip is booked in for two hours in order to support its organic unfoldment and closure. After the session, there is time to discuss what came up during the session and a general sharing aimed at integration and resolution.
Philip’s sessions are very broad in scope and the space that is held. He believes how we feel, what we’re experiencing in our lives, and what the body is expressing are interconnected and often co-dependent aspects of healing. His sessions can be very meditative, especially in the beginning as he attunes to the more subtle systems of your being. Usually his sessions contain some dialogue, although not always.
What can come up during a session?
Philip’s sessions hold space for healing on many levels. Physical healing, emotional experiences and release, and gradual cognitive clarity of the issue at hand are common intermingled outcomes. Also available should the session be guided there are embryological trauma, childhood family dynamics, generational trauma, ancestral patterns, soul fragment retrieval, akashic records, and more. While it’s good to get an understanding of the possible depth of the work, it’s important to go into every session with an open mind and without attachment to a certain unfoldment. If we knew entirely what was underlying our symptoms, the healing would have already naturally occurred. Every session is a process that brings a unique journey of discovery. Energetically, you’ll be held and supported by Philip every step of the way.
“My Session with Philip was truly incredible— probably one of the best craniosacral sessions I’ve ever had. I’ve worked with many practitioners over the years, but this one stood out. Philip really listened to my body. I could feel how deeply he tuned in, respecting my energy and responding to exactly what I needed in that moment. It honestly surprised me how accurately he was able to read what my body was experiencing and support it so intuitively. After the session, I felt such a profound shift, it’s like everything started flowing again. I’m so grateful for the experience.”
